Job summary

Hendrick Autoguard - HIC in Charlotte, NC is seeking a mid-level Data Engineer who will own ingestion pipelines, transformation models, and data marts to support BI and AI initiatives. Qualifications

• 3–7 years of professional experience in data engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Proficient in SQL with hands-on experience in a cloud data warehouse, a data transformation and modeling framework, and a workflow orchestration tool.
• Experience with Snowflake, dbt, and Dagster is strongly preferred; familiarity with AWS (storage, IAM, networking).
• Preferred experience includes Python for pipeline development, data quality frameworks, data contracts, observability tooling, and involvement in data governance or data catalog efforts.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain ingestion pipelines to move data into the Snowflake data platform.
• Orchestrate workflows with Dagster to ensure observability, reliability, and operational soundness.
• Develop and maintain dbt transformation models and design dimensional data marts for reporting and AI use cases.
• Implement data quality checks and testing standards across the transformation layer.
• Prepare data for AI, structuring feature datasets and training data pipelines in collaboration with data science teams.
• Contribute to the semantic layer for consistent access to business metrics and entities, and maintain data lineage and governance.
• Advise on the strategic direction of data engineering tools and stay current with best practices.
