Job summary

The Pittsburgh Foundation is seeking a data engineer to lead the Microsoft Fabric data platform and reporting ecosystem, overseeing data integration, modeling, governance, and platform operations across Salesforce, NetSuite, Foundant, Blackbaud and future systems.

This role will own data pipelines, dimensional models, Power BI semantic layers, and cost optimization, while collaborating with stakeholders and executive leadership to define KPIs and future data needs in a hybrid work setting based

Qualifications

• Four+ years in data or analytics engineering.
• Hands-on with Fabric, Azure Data Services or Databricks.
• Strong SQL, Python, Spark, ETL/ELT development skills.
• Experience building dimensional models and semantic layers.
• Advanced Power BI development and admin experience.
• Knowledge of data governance, quality and MDM practices.
• Experience integrating CRM, ERP and financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Own operations and long-term direction of the Fabric platform.
• Design and maintain data ingestion pipelines from enterprise apps.
• Develop data transformation logic and orchestration processes.
• Manage staging, integration, and reporting layers.
• Design dimensional models and star schemas for enterprise reporting.
• Build and optimize Power BI models, reports, and dashboards.
• Implement data quality monitoring and anomaly handling.
• Define data governance, lineage, and security within Fabric.
• Lead cross-department data initiatives and KPI definition.
• Evaluate new data sources and onboard into Fabric.
• Perform capacity monitoring and cost optimization.
• Maintain platform documentation and runbooks.
• Support advanced analytics and Copilot-enabled use cases.
• Serve as escalation point for data warehouse issues.
