Live Oak Resource Partners, LLC is a privately held Houston,Texas based firm engaged in the acquisitionand divestiture of oil and natural gas properties. Through its funds and capital partnerships, Live Oak invests primarily in royalties andminerals. Live Oak invests with a particular focus on unconventional natural gas weighted assets in Louisiana and East Texas.Live Oak is recruiting entrepreneurial self-starters.
About the Role
This is a hands-on role working across finance, engineering, and land to turn raw data into actionable insights and streamlined processes. You’ll be a critical part of the deal team, building systems that directly impact our acquisition pipeline and investment outcomes. Responsibilities
- Integrate, clean, and transform data from disparate internal and public systems
- Build and maintain databases of land and mineral ownership in key geographies
- Create visualizations and maps to support underwriting, operations, strategy, and reporting
- Use python, spotfire, ArcGIS, and Excel to build tools, dashboards, and reports.
- Leverage AI-based coding agents (e.g., GitHub, CoPilot, ChatGPT, Replit) to build tools and workflows
- Design efficient workflows for recurring tasks across land, engineering, finance, and accounting
- Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams to scope, iterate, and refine solutions
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience with large datasets, data manipulation, and automation
- Familiarity using AI tools to assist with scripting, coding, and workflow development
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, Houston-based office (M–F)
- Ability to work independently and translate ambiguous ideas into working tools
- Strong communication and prioritization skills across functions
- Comfortable handling multiple concurrent projects and tight deadlines when needed
- 2+ years work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Python (pandas, geopandas, automation scripting, etc.)
- Proficiency with DrillingInfo
- Proficiency with Spotfire and ArcGIS for data visualization and mapping
- Experience collecting data from public databases
- Ability to rapidly learn new tools and systems
- Personal passion for technological progress and evolution
