Job summary

Alexandria City Public Schools is seeking a Math and Science Academic Interventionist to strengthen STEM skills from K-5 and provide targeted math support and 4th-5th grade science remediation.

The role emphasizes MTSS/RTI collaboration, data-driven instruction, and family engagement. Ten-month licensed position reporting to the principal, with duties across curriculum, assessments, and school events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred.
• Virginia teaching license with Elementary Education PreK-5 endorsement.
• Minimum of 3 years of teaching or intervention experience in elementary education.
• Experience with MTSS/RTI, data-driven instruction, and progress monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted math interventions in small groups or push-in for K-5.
• Build foundational numeracy, place value, and problem-solving skills.
• Use diagnostic assessments to adjust support plans and track growth.
• Design and deliver hands-on, inquiry-based science lessons for 4th-5th grade.
• Differentiate instruction for struggling and advanced learners.
• Incorporate labs and real-world scientific inquiry.
• Maintain records, MTSS collaboration, and progress meetings.
• Engage families with science events and school-wide STEM activities.
