Job summary

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is seeking a data-driven 6th Grade Math Teacher to deliver standards-aligned instruction and help scholars build strong mathematical reasoning. This full-time, on-site role is based at AMS in Tucson, AZ, offering a $2,000 sign-on bonus and a compensation range of $44,770–$50,550 DOE.

Qualifications

• Candidates must meet one of the following requirements: Bachelor's degree in mathematics or a related field; OR Arizona teaching certification.
• Strong classroom management skills are expected.
• Pass required background checks and obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities.
• Strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction.
• Demonstration of collaboration, initiative, and adaptability in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver standards-aligned mathematics instruction using AMS curriculum and instructional frameworks.
• Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
• Use assessment data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to maximize student growth.
• Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and strong mathematical foundations.
• Participate in weekly professional development and PLCs.
• Collaborate with colleagues and instructional leaders to continuously improve teaching practices.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and academic excellence.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and goals; lead conferences.
• Maintain strong home–school partnerships.
• Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies to support positive student behavior.
• Create a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment.

Education

Bachelor's degree in mathematics or related field
