The Academies of Math and Science (AMS) seeks a data-driven 6th Grade Math Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction at our Tucson campus. You will foster strong mathematical reasoning while building an engaging, organized classroom culture that supports all scholars.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics or related field required.
• Arizona teaching certification in a relevant subject area required.
• Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
• Pass required background checks and obtain Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

• Show strong analytical skills and data-driven instruction mindset.

Location: 1557 W Prine rd. Tucson, AZ 85705

Schedule: Full-Time, On-Site

Compensation Range: $44,770–$50,550 annually, based on experience

Position Overview

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.

AMS is seeking a data-driven and culturally responsive 6th Grade Math Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and help scholars build strong mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

AMS teachers are collaborative, growth-minded professionals who believe all students can achieve at high levels.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Student Achievement

• Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned mathematics instruction using AMS curriculum and instructional frameworks.
• Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
• Use assessment data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to maximize student growth.
• Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and strong mathematical foundations.

Collaboration & Professional Development

• Participate in weekly professional development and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
• Collaborate with colleagues and instructional leaders to continuously improve teaching practices.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and academic excellence.

Family & Community Engagement

• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic goals.
• Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships.

Scholar Culture & Support

• Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies to support positive student behavior.
• Create a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes accountability and success.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics or a related field; OR
• Arizona teaching certification in a relevant subject area.

Additionally, Candidates Must

• Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
• Pass required background checks and obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Demonstrate a commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities.
• Show strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction.
• Demonstrate collaboration, initiative, and adaptability in a team environment.

Compensation & Benefits

AMS offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support professional growth and long-term career success.

• Salary Range: $44,770–$50,550 annually, DOE
• Sign-On Bonus: $2,000
• Hard-to-Fill Bonus: $3,000
