Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a Thermal Application Engineer- Data Center to design and deploy advanced cooling solutions for high-density workloads. You will work on liquid cooling with CDUs, direct-to-chip cooling, and high-performance air systems, interfacing with CDU suppliers and field teams.

Responsibilities include system-level architecture, airflow optimization, and support through FAT/SAT testing, with 25–40% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/thermal engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years in data center cooling, thermal engineering, or HVAC systems.
• Hands-on with CDU liquid cooling, direct-to-chip, dry cooler or large-scale airflow systems.
• Strong knowledge of heat transfer, fluid dynamics and chilled water systems.
• Experience with external suppliers or OEM partners in a technical role.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE TC9.9 and data center standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement liquid cooling and high-performance air cooling solutions.
• Define system-level cooling architectures integrating CDU loops and rack cooling.
• Optimize airflow strategies including containment and fan wall deployment.
• Perform thermal calculations, system sizing and redundancy planning.
