Job summary

Bala Consulting Engineers, a 200-person engineering firm, is hiring a Systems Specialist – Technology to design and coordinate building technology systems in our Wayne, PA office. You will develop telecommunications infrastructure, interface with clients, and coordinate with AV, Security, and MEP teams to deliver code-compliant, resilient systems.

Responsibilities include creating design concepts, detailing systems in REVIT/AutoCAD, and providing QA/QC across Bala’s technology projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associates degree in a relevant engineering, design or management discipline or history of continuing education and certification on technology design for the built environment.
• Industry certifications such as BICSI RCDD, OSP, DCDC preferred but not required.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Prior experience in the data center market preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design and document telecommunications systems, including structured cabling and room layouts.
• Coordinate with Audiovisual & Security teams and with project stakeholders.
• Develop design concepts, basis-of-design narratives, and performance criteria.
• Interact with clients, attend meetings and site visits; produce coordination materials.
• Provide QA/QC on technology projects and assist project managers when needed.
• Create Bala technology deliverables using REVIT and AutoCAD; pursue additional certifications.
