Data Center Technician Interviewer

Pay Rate: $45–$50/hr (non‑exempt hourly)

Employment Type: Contract with potential for hire

Location: Fully onsite Plano, TX

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm

Travel: Occasional local travel, typically under 15%

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Technician Interviewer to support and enhance the hiring process for data center technician roles. This position focuses on conducting structured technical interviews, evaluating candidate capabilities, and ensuring consistency and quality across all technician hiring decisions.

The ideal candidate is a former data center or field technician who has transitioned into a hiring, leadership, or interview-focused role. This person should bring a strong blend of hands‑on technical expertise and a solid understanding of effective interview practices, both technical and behavioral.

Key Responsibilities
Interviewing & Candidate Assessment
  • Conduct structured technical interviews for candidates at varying experience levels.
  • Evaluate candidate skills in hardware installation, cabling, troubleshooting, and overall data center operations.
  • Assess soft skills such as communication, reliability, professionalism, and safety awareness.
  • Deliver clear, consistent, and unbiased interview feedback aligned with established hiring standards.
Interview Process Support
  • Provide coverage or support for hiring manager interview stages when needed to maintain workflow continuity.
  • Collaborate with recruiters and hiring managers to ensure efficient scheduling and interview throughput.
  • Maintain a high-quality and consistent candidate experience throughout the interview process.
Interview Standards & Best Practices
  • Apply structured interviewing techniques and follow established evaluation frameworks.
  • Uphold fair hiring practices, compliance standards, and unbiased assessment methods.
  • Identify gaps or inconsistencies in the interview process and recommend improvements.
Collaboration & Hiring Alignment
  • Partner with hiring managers, operations teams, and recruiting staff to align on role requirements and candidate profiles.
  • Participate in calibration discussions to ensure consistent evaluation standards across interviewers.
  • Contribute to ongoing refinement of interview questions, scoring rubrics, and hiring criteria.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Expertise
  • Strong hands‑on background in data center operations, including hardware installation, cabling, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of data center workflows, environments, and technician responsibilities.
  • Ability to accurately evaluate real‑world technical skills and problem‑solving ability.
Interviewing & Evaluation Skills
  • Prior experience conducting interviews as a hiring manager, lead technician, or technical interviewer.
  • Strong understanding of structured and behavioral interviewing techniques.
  • Ability to assess candidates objectively and provide clear, actionable feedback.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Data Center Technician, Lead Technician, or similar field‑based role.
  • Experience serving as a hiring manager or participating in structured interview panels.
