Job summary

Google is seeking an Operations Technician to install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware (servers and components) and server software (Linux). You will configure networks, routers, hubs, and switches, participate in small projects, and lead contingency planning.

The role involves physical installation of racks and data-center equipment. The AI and Infrastructure team drives scalable, reliable infrastructure for Google's search and cloud platforms, including TPUs and Vertex AI.

Qualifications

Experience with component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot operating systems, computer hardware and server hardware.
Experience with networking protocols.
Ability to lift 50 lb (23 kg) and work physically over extended periods.
Willingness to work non-standard hours including weekends, nights, holidays, and shift-based schedules.
Willingness to travel to support business priorities as needed.

Responsibilities

Deploy and operate data center infrastructure across teams.
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment or infrastructure and apply resources to resolve them.
Maintain data security and integrity; track media and ensure proper data erasure per Google standards.
Disassemble end-of-life equipment and replace parts within teams as needed.
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, and infrastructure.
