Job summary

Backblaze is seeking a Data Center Technician to manage the physical infrastructure of its data centers in Chandler, AZ. You will handle hardware deployment, maintenance, and optimization while supporting onsite operations and on-call rotations.

The role requires hands-on server hardware experience, familiarity with structured cabling, and Linux-based tasks. Candidates should be prepared for varied shifts and collaboration with IT, Neteng, NOC and SRE teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in data center or server infrastructure roles.
• Hands-on knowledge of server hardware and deployments.
• Proficient with structured cabling, fiber optics, and patch panel management.
• Experience with operating systems (Linux and basic scripting).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize physical data center infrastructure.
• RMA defective components and manage on-site inventory.
• Setup, test and activate new equipment via Linux CLI.
• Work in Data Center Operations, including on-call and occasional on-site visits.
• Lead infrastructure projects and coordinate with IT, Neteng, NOC and SRE teams.
