Job summary

InfraServices is seeking a Data Center Technician I to support the installation and deployment of data center infrastructure in colocation, enterprise, regional, and hyperscale environments. The role focuses on basic installation tasks such as cable pulling, routing, and rack power installation under supervision.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma, telecom or data center exposure, OSHA 10, and First Aid/CPR certifications. Willingness to travel up to 75% regionally/nationally is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or related trade school.
  • Two years or less experience in telecom, cabling, or data center environments preferred.
  • OSHA 10 Construction Training Card and First Aid/CPR certifications required or obtainable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation of server cabinets and network racks.
  • Pull and route copper, coax, and fiber according to standards.
  • Install Cat6/6A, MPO, fiber trunks, patches, and cable enclosures.
  • Install basic rack power components including rPDUs.
  • Support overhead ladder rack and fiber trough systems.
  • Label cables and maintain installation documentation.
  • Follow drawings, SOWs, and MOPs.
  • Maintain clean work areas and safety practices.
  • Travel regularly to job sites (regionally and nationally).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary: The Data Center Technician I is responsible for supporting the installation and deployment of data center infrastructure in colocation, enterprise, regional, and hyperscale environments. This role focuses on basic installation activities including cable pulling, routing, rack power installation, and supporting infrastructure deployments for new builds, expansions, and MACD (Moves, Adds, Changes, and Decommissions) projects. The Technician I works under direct supervision while developing technical installation skills and knowledge of data center standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with installation of server cabinets, network racks, ladder rack, bracing, and containment systems
  • Pull, route, secure, and dress copper, coax, and fiber optic cabling according to installation standards
  • Assist with installation of Cat6/6A, MPO, fiber trunks, patch panels, splice trays, and cable enclosures
  • Install and support basic rack power components including rPDUs and cable whips
  • Support installation of overhead ladder rack, basket tray, and fiber trough systems
  • Perform cable labeling and maintain basic installation documentation
  • Assist with grounding and bonding activities
  • Perform basic fiber cleaning and inspection activities
  • Follow engineered drawings, installation manuals, scopes of work (SOW), and methods of procedure (MOPs)
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, including proper housekeeping of tools, materials, and installation debris
  • Use hand tools, drills, and basic installation equipment safely and effectively
  • Support QA/QC punch list completion under supervision
  • Follow all Company safety policies, customer site requirements, and established safe work practices at all times
  • Accurately complete and submit timecards and other required administrative records in a timely manner
  • Travel regularly to job sites, which may include overnight stays
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

Education: High school diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school education

Experience:

  • Two years or less experience in telecommunications, structured cabling, construction, or data center environments preferred
  • Must have or obtain and maintain OSHA 10 Construction Training Card
  • Must have or obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR Certification

Technical Skills:

  • Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Basic understanding of structured cabling systems and installation practices
  • Familiarity with copper and fiber optic cable types including Cat6/6A, MPO, LC, SM, and MM fiber preferred
  • Basic understanding of cable routing, bend radius, and labeling practices
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic testing equipment
  • Ability to read and follow basic floor plans and installation instructions

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Company requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to stand, bend, climb, and work overhead for extended periods
  • Ability to safely use ladders, lifts, and power tools
  • Ability to work in active construction and live data center environments
  • Ability to wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to work long and unpredictable hours and flexible schedules, including nights and weekends as required
  • Ability to travel regionally and nationally up to 75% of the time

$20 - $25 an hour
