Job summary

Gtatelecom seeks a Data Center Fiber Technician for a long-term contract in Athens, OH and New Albany. You will work in customer data centers on fiber installations, migrations, remediation, and remote-hands services, traveling up to 50% as needed.

You will lead field tasks, verify optical connectivity, and follow MOPs and engineering docs, collaborating with customers, vendors, and technical teams to ensure quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• 3–15 years of data center operations, field services, or similar technical experience.
• Hands-on experience with single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cabling.
• Experience with LC connectors, fan-outs, and structured cabling.
• Experience with fiber installation, migration, decommissioning, remediation, and break/fix.
• Hands-on experience with optical testing and troubleshooting.
• Experience using optical power meters, VFLs, OTDRs, light sources, and/or optical test sets.
• Ability to read and execute Methods of Procedure (MOPs), engineering documents, network diagrams, and cut sheets.
• Team lead or technical lead experience.
• Strong customer-facing communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to travel up to 50%, including short-notice travel and multi-week assignments.
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs and work at heights.
• Must not have been employed by Ericsson within the past 2 years.

Responsibilities

We are hiring a Data Center Technician in Athens/ New Albany, OH for a contract opportunity supporting a leading global telecommunications and networking organization. This position will work in customer data centers and co-location environments, supporting fiber-optic infrastructure, optical transport, installations, migrations, remediation, break/fix, and remote-hands services.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Data Center Technician who enjoys being hands-on while also taking ownership of work quality. You will serve as an important interface between the customer, vendors, and technical teams—performing and auditing installations, troubleshooting optical connectivity, and ensuring work is completed according to engineering and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong fiber and optical-testing experience, can lead work in the field, and is comfortable traveling up to 50%, including occasional multi-week assignments in other markets.
