Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Fiber Optic Technician to support nationwide data center construction and infrastructure projects. The role involves testing, installation, and documentation of fiber systems across the US, with a 3-weeks-on, 4-days-off travel rotation and all travel arranged by the employer.

The candidate will read blueprints, perform OTDR tests, certify fiber paths, and collaborate with project teams to meet strict data center standards.

Qualifications

• Experience with fiber optic testing or fiber optic structured cabling installation.
• Ability to operate OTDRs, optical loss test sets, power meters, and fiber certification equipment.

• Experience working in commercial, telecommunications, mission-critical, or data center environments.

• Strong attention to detail and documentation practices.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass background screening and meet data center access requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform fiber optic testing using OTDRs, power meters, light sources, and related test equipment.
• Conduct fiber certification, troubleshooting, and quality assurance inspections.
• Install, route, terminate, splice, label, and document fiber optic cabling systems.
• Support structured cabling installations including backbone and horizontal fiber infrastructure.
• Read and interpret blueprints, network drawings, rack elevations, and project documentation.
• Troubleshoot fiber network issues and identify signal loss or performance concerns.
• Prepare and submit test reports, certification documentation, and project records.
• Ensure all work meets customer specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and other technicians to complete projects safely and on schedule.
• Adhere to all site safety requirements and data center operating procedures.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Fiber Optic Technician to support nationwide data center construction and infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in fiber optic testing, fiber installation, structured cabling, and data center connectivity systems who enjoy travel and working in mission-critical environments.

The Fiber Technician will travel to data centers across the United States to perform fiber optic testing, troubleshooting, certification, installation support, and project-related activities. The position follows a 3-weeks-on, 4-days-off rotation, with all travel arranged and covered by the company.

This role is employed directly by a leading data center infrastructure contractor supporting hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data center projects.
