Job summary

Instrata is seeking a Data Center Superintendent to lead on-site construction across hyperscale and enterprise data center projects, managing crews of 20+ and coordinating with PMs, commissioning teams, and client stakeholders. You will drive safety, schedule adherence, quality, and turnover readiness, ensuring facilities are built to spec and ready for testing.

This hands-on role demands strong leadership and meticulous execution in fast-paced environments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 5+ years in structured cabling, low-voltage, or data center infrastructure construction.
  • 2+ years supervising crews on large commercial or mission-critical projects.
  • OSHA 30 required.
  • BICSI or manufacturer certifications strongly preferred.
  • Experience on data center, hyperscale, or critical infrastructure builds preferred.
  • Familiarity with project tracking or construction software (Smartsheet, Procore, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all on-site construction activities across active data center builds and expansions.
  • Drive schedule execution aligned to turnover, commissioning, and energization milestones.
  • Coordinate daily manpower, subcontractors, and sequencing of critical path activities.
  • Maintain a safety-first culture appropriate for energized and high-risk environments.
  • Lead installation of structured cabling, fiber backbone, containment systems, pathways, grounding/bonding, and low-voltage infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with MEP trades to ensure proper routing, clearances, and installation sequencing.
  • Support white space readiness, equipment staging, and turnover requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with client specifications, data center standards, and commissioning readiness.
  • Conduct daily field briefings covering safety, logistics, materials, and progress.
  • Monitor installations for QA/QC and design intent.
  • Enforce OSHA standards, site safety plans, and client protocols.
  • Coordinate inspections, punch resolution, and turnover documentation.
  • Forecast labor, materials, lifts, testing, and tooling weeks in advance.
  • Identify constructability risks, sequencing conflicts, and schedule threats early.
  • Track material flow and ensure timely delivery for critical components.
  • Support commissioning readiness by verifying installations meet test requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Foremen and technicians in mission-critical environments.
  • Promote accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Support performance coaching and workforce planning with Operations.

About The Role

Are you a field leader who thrives in mission-critical construction environments where precision, safety, and schedule adherence are non‑negotiable? We’re seeking an experienced Data Center Superintendent to lead on‑site construction operations across hyperscale and enterprise data center projects, managing large (20+) crews and complex technical installations.

In this role, you’ll own field execution—driving safety, productivity, quality, and milestone delivery in high‑tempo construction environments. You’ll partner closely with Project Managers, commissioning teams, trade partners, and client stakeholders to ensure facilities are built to spec, ready for testing, and delivered on schedule.

What You’ll Do – Build Mission‑Critical Infrastructure
  • Oversee all on‑site construction activities across active data center builds and expansions
  • Drive schedule execution aligned to turnover, commissioning, and energization milestones

  • Maintain a disciplined, safety‑first culture appropriate for energized and high‑risk environments

What You Bring

  • Experience coordinating multiple trades and large field teams on complex builds
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and installation standards
  • Strong communication skills with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and schedule performance
  • Proficiency with construction reporting tools, mobile field tech, and Microsoft 365
Qualifications

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This is a hands‑on field role in active construction sites, including large‑scale data center builds. Work includes walking extensive job sites, climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs, and performing physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and reaching.
