Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Project Engineer to be located on our Iowa job sites in Cedar Rapids or Des Moines. You will support planning, buyout, management, and closeout with a focus on schedule and budget.

This role reports to the Project Manager and works with a talented team on commercial and mission-critical projects. Qualified candidates have at least two years of project engineering experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and a relevant college degree.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of project engineering experience.
• Experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven history of leading others and mentoring.
• Industry-related college degree.
• Data center experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organize, review, update, maintain and post construction documents and drawings.
• Collaborate with project team to complete RFIs.
• Review submittals for accuracy against plans and specs.
• Assist in inspections, compliance audits and non-conformance log.
• Monitor material and equipment delivery status.
• Maintain project logs (buyouts, submittals, RFIs).
• Understand scopes of work for subcontracts/purchase orders.
• Track subcontractor change requests and draft change orders.
• Support project schedule management.
• Attend project meetings and record minutes.
• Obtain closeout information, gather punch lists, and assist with as-builts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
