Job summary

STACK Infrastructure is seeking a Critical Operations Manager to lead the local data center campus in Elk Grove Village, IL. You will ensure uptime, manage preventive maintenance, and oversee budgets, training, and vendor relationships while maintaining safety and compliance across electrical, mechanical, and fire life safety systems.

The role requires strong leadership, hands-on expertise in critical infrastructure, and the ability to work flexible hours, including on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5-7 years in a data center or mission-critical operations role.
• 3-5 years in administering and managing facility preventative maintenance programs.
• 3-5 years' experience in vendor and project management.
• Expert knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment.
• Familiarity with NFPA codes and fire life safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement a standardized safety culture across STACK data centers.
• Act as SME for electrical, mechanical, and fire life safety systems.
• Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance programs and budgets.
• Manage vendor relationships, procurement processes, and billing.
• Develop training plans and mentor staff; conduct 1:1s and team meetings.
• Ensure outages are prevented and site design efficiency (PUE) is optimized.
• Lead incident reporting and root cause analysis.
