Job summary

Sabey Data Centers, based in Ashburn, VA, seeks a Data Center Operations Engineer 1 to support hands-on maintenance of critical infrastructure across electrical, mechanical, and environmental systems. After a training period, you’ll work rotating 12-hour shifts to broaden site experience and respond to incidents.

You’ll collaborate with engineers and technicians to perform preventive maintenance, monitor systems, and document resolutions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Relevant mechanical, electrical, controls, or related technical field experience preferred.
• Technical certifications or coursework related to data center operations preferred.
• Ability to learn critical facility and data center operations systems from manuals and docs.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication and ability to relate across teams.
• Independent work style with team collaboration as needed.
• Comfort with preventive maintenance, emergency response, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections.
• Monitor environmental and infrastructure conditions including temperature, humidity, and power.
• Respond to alarms, investigate issues, and escalate to senior engineers.
• Troubleshoot equipment with engineers and document incidents and resolutions.
• Support on-call coverage and 24/7 operational readiness.
• Assist with inventory, parts, and equipment documentation.
