Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated is seeking an Operating Engineer for a data center in Richardson, TX. This 3rd shift role focuses on operating, maintaining and troubleshooting building systems to deliver reliable service to clients.

You will support the Chief Engineer, perform preventive maintenance, manage safety and documentation, and coordinate with contractors for events and projects. Strong technical and customer service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Several years of construction or building engineering related experience, preferably within the data center environment.
• Trade or Maintenance License preferred
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Experienced with various types of hand tools and use of diagnostic equipment
• Physically able to operate electric hand tools, work on a ladder, carry tools and lift up to 70 pounds
• Able to work in close spaces such as closets, crawl space and able to work on roofs of buildings.
• Ability to diagnose problems, make sound decisions, prioritize, schedule and complete multiple tasks
• Proven safety record and compliance to safe work practices
• Interpret engineering drawings and equipment manuals
• CFC Universal Refrigerant Certification
• Proficient computer skills including e-mail, word and excel
• Exposure to a CMMS system, such as Corrigo a plus

Responsibilities

• Operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing building equipment related to the efficient operation of the building equipment and systems (HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls)
• Supporting the property maintenance team, handling customer service requests and coordinating with contractors on projects and events
• Assist Chief Engineer with completion of JLL compliance program and documentation
• Maintain tenant relations through prompt responses to requests within guidelines
• Perform predictive and preventative maintenance and routine service
• Occasionally assist contractors and ensure contracted services are performed safely
• Maintain and repair locks, closing mechanisms, doors, controllers
• Document fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems, alarms and life safety systems
• Maintain and repair electrical panels, switches, wiring, lights and ballasts; plumbing fixtures; water heaters and sump pumps
• Provide other building maintenance, repair and restorative tasks
• Prepare, prime and paint interior/exterior surfaces
• General handyman tasks; work independently or as part of a team
• Overtime and holiday work may be required
