Job summary

Supermicro is seeking a Data Center Network Engineer to support daily operations of high-performance networking in AI labs and data centers. You will handle rack-level deployment, cabling, switch configuration, and connectivity validation for GPU clusters and storage systems.

The role requires 5+ years of hands-on data center networking experience, with knowledge of 100GbE, QSFP/OSFP optics, and spine-leaf architectures. Strong Linux CLI skills and security awareness are a plus.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Networking, Information Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting network infrastructure in data centers, AI labs, high-density compute environments, or mission-critical facilities.
• Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4 addressing, subnetting, VLANs, L2/L3 concepts, and basic routing principles.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco/Arista switches; MLAG knowledge is a plus.
• Experience with 100GbE+ networking, QSFP/OSFP optics, DAC/AOC cables, fiber connectivity and high-speed NICs.
• Familiarity with GPU servers, AI/ML clusters, spine-leaf topologies, and distributed workloads.
• Linux command-line proficiency and basic network troubleshooting.
• Awareness of data center security practices and firewall basics.

Responsibilities

• Data Center Network Deployment: rack, stack, cable, label, and commission high-speed Ethernet switches.
• Fiber & high-speed connectivity: install, inspect, label, and validate fiber infrastructure and transceivers.
• Switch configuration: manage ports, VLANs, LACP, and trunk interfaces under guidelines.
• Spine-leaf deployment: support expansion and troubleshooting of spine-leaf fabrics.
• GPU/server connectivity: validate network connectivity for GPU servers and compute nodes.
• Network troubleshooting: diagnose Layer 1–Layer 3 issues and escalate as needed.
• Monitoring & validation: run ping/iperf and check telemetry to confirm link performance.
• Documentation: maintain rack layouts, configurations, port mappings, and topology records.
