Job summary

SpaceXAI in Memphis is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Construction Lead to oversee large-scale HVAC and cooling installations for our data centers. You will manage on-site crews, contractors, and schedules to meet strict quality and safety standards.

The role requires 3+ years in mechanical construction management on data centers or similar projects, plus a high school diploma. Relocation within the US may be required for additional sites.

Qualifications

• 3+ years managing mechanical construction teams on large-scale projects.
• 3+ years hands-on experience in piping, HVAC and cooling infrastructure on data centers or similar.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate mechanical installations including chilled water piping, condenser systems, HVAC equipment, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, ductwork, CRAC/CRAH units, and fire suppression systems for SpaceXAI Data Centers.
• Manage and schedule mechanical contractors, subcontractors, and on-site crews to deliver project milestones on time and to SpaceXAI's quality standards.
• Ensure all contractors adhere to mechanical scope, delivering high-integrity cooling and process systems.
• Monitor daily progress of mechanical construction, maintaining logs, red-line drawings, and as-built documentation.
• Develop and enforce aggressive construction schedules while keeping the project on time and within budget.
• Champion and enforce SpaceXAI's safety program, building a zero-incident culture around heavy mechanical equipment.
• Supervise foremen and crews, fostering teamwork and accountability in a mission-critical environment.
• Resolve on-site challenges — material delays, technical conflicts, sequencing issues with electrical/civil trades.
• Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with local regs and SpaceXAI quality standards.
• Prepare and present progress reports, metrics, and risk updates to senior leadership.
