Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Construction Lead for the Memphis Data Center to oversee crews and contractors on night shifts installing large-scale cooling systems, piping, pumps, and fire protection. You will ensure workmanship meets SpaceXAI standards and maintains 24/7 data center reliability.

You will coordinate schedules, enforce safety and quality, and document progress for leadership review on a high-impact mission-critical project in Memphis, Tennessee.

Qualifications

• 3+ years managing mechanical construction teams with emphasis on large-scale industrial or mission-critical projects.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical installations including process piping, HVAC systems, chilled water plants, pumps, and cooling infrastructure.
• High school diploma or equivalency.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate mechanical installations during night shift hours, including chilled water piping, condenser systems, HVAC equipment, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, ductwork, CRAC/CRAH units, and fire suppression systems for SpaceXAI Data Centers.
• Manage and schedule mechanical contractors, subcontractors, and on-site crews to deliver project milestones on time and to SpaceXAI's quality and reliability standards.
• Ensure all contractors adhere to mechanical scope, delivering high-integrity cooling and process systems for data center uptime and efficiency.
• Monitor daily night shift progress and maintain logs, red-line drawings, and as-built documentation.
• Develop and enforce construction schedules and keep the project on time and within budget.
• Champion and enforce SpaceXAI's safety program, building a zero-incident culture on regulated sites.
• Lead, train, and supervise foremen and mechanical crews, fostering teamwork and accountability in a high-stakes environment.
• Resolve on-site challenges — material delays, technical conflicts, sequencing issues, and coordination with electrical/civil trades — focusing on reliability and code compliance.
• Conduct regular night shift site inspections to verify compliance with local regulations, mechanical codes, safety protocols, and SpaceXAI's quality standards.
• Prepare and present progress reports and risk updates to senior leadership.
