Job summary

ESP Global Services is seeking a hands-on Data Center Technician for a 7-month contract to support Layer 1 physical network operations in data centers and network closets. You will focus on racking, cabling, hardware turn-up, and on-site deployment execution with an emphasis on precision at the physical layer.

This role requires independence, attention to deployment plans, and comfort with off-hours coverage to support maintenance windows from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM on-site.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of hands-on data center or network physical work.
• Familiarity with racking, cabling standards, and physical infrastructure.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (L1 fundamentals).
• Ability to follow written procedures, diagrams, and deployment documentation.

Responsibilities

• Rack and stack network switches, routers, firewalls, and supporting hardware.
• Perform structured cable management with labeling and patching.
• Validate power and network connectivity (power feeds, port status, link lights).
• Execute basic device turn-up tasks: console access, LEDs/status, physical connectivity.
