Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced HVAC Journeyman Mechanic to support our commercial service team. You will work on rooftop units, chillers, and related infrastructure, delivering high‑quality service while prioritizing safety and customer satisfaction.

The role includes field diagnostics, installation, and collaboration with technicians across the region, with 10–20% travel. Union wages and a comprehensive benefits package are provided.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience.
• EPA universal refrigerant certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to read schematics and document service actions.
• Willingness to join UA and work safely.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair commercial HVAC systems (chillers, boilers, compressors, pumps, fans).
• Perform maintenance and replacements on mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot advanced systems including centrifugal compressors and ammonia/hydrocarbon components.
• Conduct shaft alignment and vibration analysis.
• Install complete HVAC systems and supporting infrastructure.
• Provide recommendations and quotes for upgrades and repairs.
• Collaborate with apprentices and other mechanics to ensure top-tier service.
