Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer focused on Hardware to lead firmware analysis, hardware specs review, and release validation for the company’s data-center operations. You will proactively identify hardware issues, manage RMAs with vendors, and work with technicians to minimize downtime while driving reliability.

The role requires hands-on expertise in diagnosing complex failures, scripting for automation, and collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 2+ years of hardware reliability engineering experience, preferably in HPC or data centers.
• Expertise in firmware analysis, hardware specs review, and release validation.
• Experience with RMA processes, vendor negotiations, and outside-standard resolutions.
• Ability to diagnose and prove complex hardware failures, incl. grey/intermittent issues.
• Familiarity with datacenter hardware (servers, GPUs, networking) and emerging tech.
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash) for automation and analysis; one systems language (C/C++, Java, Rust).
• Strong problem-solving with a data-driven reliability approach.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with operations technicians.

Responsibilities

• Analyze firmware packages and hardware specs for compatibility, performance, and reliability in the data center.
• Run security scanning and CVE / vulnerability analysis on firmware and related components.
• Flag safety issues before the package hits the floor (electrical, thermal, power protection).
• Investigate and diagnose hardware failures, including grey failures, proving defects via testing and data analysis.
• Manage vendor relationships, initiate and negotiate RMAs, push for resolutions.
• Collaborate with Data Center Operations Technicians to troubleshoot and optimize hardware.
• Develop monitoring tools, scripts, and processes to detect hardware anomalies and minimize downtime.
• Document failure modes, RCAs, AFR/reliability models, RMA outcomes, and evaluations.
