Job summary

GTA Data Centers is seeking a Facility Mechanical Technician in Guam to protect and maintain generator and mechanical support assets across our data centers. This hands-on role focuses on generator maintenance, fuel readiness, small engine work, and coordinated periodic testing to keep backup power reliable.

You will inspect, troubleshoot, and repair critical systems, follow safety procedures, and document actions and results.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or generator training strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years of generator, diesel, mechanical, pump, equipment, facilities, or field-service maintenance experience.
  • Experience with generators, fuel systems, batteries, starters, controls, engines, pumps, forklifts, or load-bank support preferred.
  • Generator vendor training, welding, forklift, OSHA, hot work, CPR/first aid, or mechanical certifications helpful but not required at hire.
  • Electrical and fuel-system work must stay within legal, safety, training, and site authorization boundaries.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel between various locations
  • Must be able to pass required background checks and follow data center security, safety, and access-control policies.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day generator maintenance and repair execution across assigned data center sites within qualification limits.
  • Inspect generators, fuel systems, starting systems, batteries, controls, enclosures, exhaust, cooling, and related support equipment.
  • Troubleshoot generator alarms, failed starts, abnormal readings, leaks, vibration, overheating, fuel concerns, and control faults within qualification limits.
  • Perform or coordinate generator repairs, parts replacement, adjustments, and corrective maintenance according to approved work boundaries.
  • Maintain generator PM schedules, run-hour records, inspection logs, maintenance history, service reports, and readiness evidence.
  • Plan and support generator load-bank testing with the Facility Engineer, Facility Electrical Technician, vendors, and site operations.
  • Capture load-bank test results, deficiencies, corrective actions, acceptance evidence, and follow-up requirements.
  • Coordinate fuel readiness, fuel quality checks, fuel vendor support, tank observations, leak concerns, and refueling readiness.
  • Repair and maintain small engines, pumps, portable mechanical equipment, and similar support equipment within qualification limits.
  • Support forklift maintenance coordination, inspections, basic troubleshooting, and vendor repair follow-up.
  • Perform small welding, bracket, guard, stand, rack, or facility-fabrication projects when trained, authorized, and safe to do so.
  • Identify required spares, consumables, tools, filters, fluids, batteries, belts, sensors, welding consumables, and test equipment.
  • Coordinate generator vendor work and verify vendor work quality before closeout.
  • Reduce dependency on unreliable vendor support by validating service quality and identifying recurring vendor gaps.
  • Track open generator and mechanical deficiencies and elevate reliability risks to the Facility Engineer and Director of Technical Operations.
  • Perform weekly data hall inspections and provide findings to the Director of Operations and Facility Engineer.
