Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support Data Center and Mission Critical projects across the United States. You will design fire protection systems, perform code analyses, and ensure life safety standards are met while collaborating with clients, architects, and AHJs.

Ideal candidates have PE licensure, 5+ years of experience, and a strong background in water-based suppression, pumps, and hydraulic calculations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fire protection engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Fire Protection Engineer for Data Center and Mission Critical projects.
• Provide fire protection system design, code analysis, and life safety engineering.
• Establish project fire protection design criteria, basis of design reports, and technical standards.
• Participate in design reviews and QA/QC across multiple projects.
• Conduct code evaluations using NFPA, IBC, IFC, FM Global, and client standards.
• Develop suppression system concepts including water-based sprinklers, pumps, storage, pre-action, and special hazards systems.
• Perform hydraulic calculations for site water distribution networks and sprinkler systems.
• Coordinate fire protection with other disciplines and interface with clients and AHJs.
• Support campus master planning and fire protection strategies for hyperscale data centers.
• Assist with project scope, staffing, budgets, and risk management.
• Support proposals and business development within the Data Center market.
• Keep abreast of codes and technologies affecting mission-critical facilities.
