Key Responsibilities

1. Oversee all aspects of the data center’s critical physical infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance without impacting customers.
2. Manage on-site teams of 24x7 shift technicians, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring adherence to practices, procedures, and safety protocols.
3. Promote safety and security culture and compliance within the team.
4. Hire, coach, and develop team members, managing their career growth and performance.
5. Foster a healthy team culture and morale.
6. Manage the operations budget and expenditures efficiently.
7. Lead improvement projects, coordinating with support teams from conception to completion.
8. Act as an escalation point for facilities-related issues, overseeing routine and emergency services for critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, chillers, cooling towers, and monitoring systems.
9. Utilize root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills.
10. Respond to out-of-hours emergency calls.
11. Support multiple locations/sites as needed.
12. Assist in new facility build-outs and projects to enhance efficiency.
13. Use administrative tools like Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook for daily tasks.

Physical Requirements

Willingness and ability to work in conditions such as lifting over 40 pounds, working on ladders, and operating in environments requiring ear protection.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 4+ years in management with 5+ direct reports.
• 5+ years experience in a data center or mission-critical environment, or 7+ years of relevant technical training/experience.
• Advanced electrical or mechanical certifications, or a relevant engineering degree.
• Strong understanding of critical infrastructure systems such as UPS, generators, chillers, and cooling systems.
• Excellent communication skills, including technical writing.
