Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Data Center Engineering Technician in Virginia (Fredericksburg area) to maintain mission‑critical data center equipment and ensure 99.999% uptime. You will handle electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems, support owners, and coordinate with contractors.

The role requires travel between data center locations, shift flexibility, and on‑site collaboration with vendors. A TS/SCI clearance is required, with relocation stipend offered where applicable.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience.
• 2+ years of electrical and mechanical experience.
• Ability to work on a flexible schedule including days, nights, and/or weekends.
• Current, active U.S. Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above.

Responsibilities

• Daily building rounds to monitor and record electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.
• Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
• Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack‑level events within internal SLA.
• Perform rack installs and decommissioning within SLA.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Technical writing to support change management program.
• Monitor daily work requests, resolve them, and execute projects from conception to completion.
• Provide on‑site support for contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Adapt to shift schedules up to 12 hours, including on‑call rotations, and may support multiple locations.
