Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. seeks a Data Center Engineering Technician to undertake frontline electrical and mechanical equipment responsibilities across AWS data centers.

You will monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain systems to support 99.999% uptime and safe operations, including diesel generators, switchgear, UPS, PDUs, cooling, and fire/life safety equipment. The role requires flexibility in shifts, the ability to travel between sites in Virginia and surrounding regions, and collaboration with

Qualifications

• 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, or 1+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience.
• Flexible schedule including days, nights, and/or weekends.
• Ability to travel between data center locations as needed.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Preferred: 2+ years of data center engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment for 24/7 reliability.
• Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
• Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within SLAs.
• Perform rack installs and rack decommissioning within SLAs.
• PM, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Technical writing to support change management program.
• Manage daily work requests to resolution and drive projects from conception to completion.
• On-site support of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors per established procedures and local regulations.
