Job summary

Meta in Raleigh, NC seeks an Energy Manager to lead commercial energy strategies for its data center portfolio. You will manage electricity and natural gas supply, negotiate with utilities and marketers, and influence rate design and policy to support capacity and cost targets.

The role requires deep market knowledge, regulatory understanding, and strong collaboration with legal, finance, and site teams. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a directly related field or equivalent practical experience
• 7+ years navigating commercial energy issues across electricity and/or natural gas
• Experience representing business interests to suppliers, utilities, pipelines, governments and regulators
• Knowledge of transmission/distribution, natural gas transportation, storage, and interconnection processes
• Experience negotiating energy supply or fuel agreements (PPAs, ESAs, tariffs, gas contracts)
• Experience managing multiple projects with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to communicate complex commercial details to all levels of the organization
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, etc.

Responsibilities

• Actively manage commercial relationships for data centers in diverse US energy markets (utilities, generators, gas pipelines, marketers)
• Influence rate-making and energy supply solutions through regulatory processes
• Develop and grow relationships with utilities, regulators, policymakers, and stakeholders
• Negotiate and deliver new commercial agreements spanning electricity, generation, and fuel supply
• Source, negotiate, and execute natural gas supply, transportation, and storage agreements
• Support development of bridge power, on-site generation, and behind-the-meter projects
• Evaluate gas market fundamentals and translate to siting and cost recommendations
• Partner with legal to refine commercial arrangements for facilities
• Collaborate with Site Selection to identify new energy-ready locations in the US
• Interface with on-site staff, sustainability, policy, finance, and legal teams
• Stay informed on power and gas market developments and communicate trends to management
• Lead and support various energy projects; travel domestically ~25%
