Job description

Join to apply for the Data Center Electrician- 2nd Shift role at Cologix, Inc.

Shift available:
2nd shift - Mon-Fri (3pm-11pm).
Temporary training on 1st shift.

About The Position

The Data Center Electrician is responsible for the operation of Data Center infrastructure components, including but not limited to Mechanical Systems (Chillers, CRAC, CRAH, pumps, condensers) and Electrical Systems (UPS, Generators, ATS, batteries, DC plants).

Daily Responsibilities
  • Install AC and DC circuits from PDU to Customer Cabinets.
  • Manage Mechanical and Electrical operations within the Data Centers, including UPS systems (Emerson/Vertiv and Mitsubishi), transformers (2-34.5mW), 480 V Systems, DC Power Plants.
  • Track cooling capacity, temperatures, efficiency, electrical capacity, UPS loads, customer consumption, and breaker availability.
  • Maintain detailed site documentation, including As-Builts, Single-Lines, and pre-sales specs.
  • Plan installations such as capacity expansions, system upgrades, and new equipment.
  • Lead troubleshooting and repairs, making recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Optimize cooling and electrical distribution for best PUE.
  • Schedule and document vendor preventive maintenance.
  • Review and approve maintenance tasks as part of change management.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, power consumption, temperature, and PUE trends.
  • Participate in pre-sales engineering, manage installs, and participate in post-incident reviews and audits.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years managing mission-critical facilities; combination of education and experience acceptable.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications and data center operations.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to work independently and achieve results.
  • Active Electrician License required.
  • Experience with cooling subsystems (Chillers, CRAC, CRAH).
  • Understanding of IT systems, servers, network systems, cabling.
  • Familiarity with Uptime Institute and GreenGrid principles.
  • Experience in large construction projects.
  • Ability to read single-line diagrams.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.; sponsorship not available.
