Job summary

ESP Global Services is seeking a hands-on Desktop Support Technician to support Layer 1 hardware deployments in data center and network closets. This 7-month contract emphasizes racking, cabling, hardware turn-up, and on-site deployment execution.

The ideal candidate works independently, follows deployment plans, and prioritizes physical layer precision. This is not network engineering; success comes from strong hardware skills and meticulous execution.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in Helpdesk/Desktop Support or Field Services.
• 1–3 years with Windows Desktop software.
• 1–3 years supporting DSS, multiple OS, networking, and printing.
• At least 1 year in hands-on data center or network physical work; familiarity with racking & cabling.
• Basic understanding of L1 networking concepts.
• Ability to follow written procedures, diagrams and deployment documentation.
• Able to communicate across functions.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person, phone, remote, and email support to users.
• Keep the ticketing system up to date with status of requests.
• Keep inventory system up to date with deployed assets.
• Research, recommend, and order software and hardware requested by departments.
• Create and provision user accounts, email accounts, and access.
• Provide support to end users in problem resolution for Windows and Apple systems.
• Guide end users through troubleshooting procedures.
• Perform upgrades to hardware and software.
• Support printing and peripheral devices.
• Set up, install, and configure desktop hardware/software per policies.
• Participate in identity and access management for various systems.
• Rack and stack network switches, routers, firewalls, and supporting hardware.
• Perform structured cable management with labeling and patching.
• Off-hours availability for maintenance windows and deployments.
• Able to lift and maneuver equipment, work in tight spaces, and stand/kneel for extended periods.
• Team-aware mindset with clean handoffs.
• Detail-oriented; physical layer accuracy is critical.
