Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a Data Center Design Engineer to lead electrical design and end-to-end execution for new sites, expansions, and upgrades across the global footprint. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering; 5+ years in data center design/ops.
• Experience with HVAC, chilled water, pumps, raised floors, and data center cooling.
• Understanding of electrical theory and single- and three-phase power.
• Familiarity with data center M&E concepts and UPS topologies.
• Experience as owner's technical representative with external partners.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to work across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Translate capacity requirements into data center rack plans within contract constraints.
• Lead cage projects with data center providers and manage deadlines.
• Design low-voltage cabling, fiber, cross-connect, and data center infrastructure.
• Collaborate with supply chain on rack integration and deployment qualification.
• Lead data center expansions or new builds on tight timelines.
• Review diagrams, cooling equations, and PDU specifications.
• Develop and maintain power/energy tracking tools; support reporting.
• Travel up to 25% for audits and buildouts.
• Define interfaces for liquid cooling and CDUs.
