Job summary

PGTEK is seeking a Data Center Technician to deploy, install, configure, and support enterprise data center infrastructure. You will install servers, racks, connect power, manage cabling, and help with system configuration during large deployment projects.

This hands-on role demands mechanical aptitude, strong troubleshooting, attention to detail, and travel 60–70% across the US. You should thrive in fast-paced environments and collaborate with distributed teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–4 years IT or data center deployment experience.
• Experience placing, setting, leveling, and securing server racks.
• Experience connecting rack power to rack/facility power.
• Experience with rack and stack deployments in enterprise data centers.
• Experience with networking fundamentals and hardware connectivity.
• Experience configuring server and network hardware.
• Experience replacing hardware components (servers, switches, power supplies, drives).
• Strong cable management and structured cabling experience.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and use hand/power tools.

Responsibilities

• Install, place, level, and secure server racks and cabinets per deployment specs.
• Connect rack power to rack and facility power as per procedures.
• Rack, stack, cable, and configure servers, switches, and data center infra.
• Perform hardware installation, upgrades, and break/fix activities.
• Install, route, label, and manage copper and fiber cabling with clean cabling.
• Assist with server and network hardware configuration and validation.
• Read deployment docs, rack elevations, and installation instructions.
• Stage, inventory, and prepare equipment for deployment projects.
• Operate pallet jacks and lifts as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and follow OSHA rules.
