Job summary

PGTEK is seeking a Data Center Technician to deploy, install, configure, and support enterprise data center infrastructure across the United States. You will position server racks, connect power, manage cabling, and assist with large-scale deployment projects.

The role requires hands-on hardware experience, strong troubleshooting, attention to detail, and willingness to travel 60–70%. Candidates should be comfortable working in fast-paced data center environments and lifting 50+ pounds.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years IT/data center deployment or related experience.
• Experience placing, leveling, and securing server racks.
• Experience wiring rack power to facility power.
• Experience with enterprise data center deployments.
• Strong cable management and structured cabling skills.
• Able to lift 50+ pounds and use hand/power tools.

Responsibilities

• Install, place, level, and secure server racks and cabinets.
• Connect rack power whips to rack/facility power.
• Rack, stack, cable, and configure servers, switches, and data center gear.
• Perform hardware installation, upgrades, and break/fix activities.
• Install, route, label, and manage copper and fiber cabling.
• Support server and network hardware configuration and post-install validation.
• Assist with network connectivity and basic deployment troubleshooting.
• Read deployment documentation, rack elevations, and installation instructions.
• Stage, inventory, and prepare equipment for deployments.
• Operate pallet jacks and lifts as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and PPE compliance.
• Adhere to OSHA and customer site safety requirements.
