Job summary

Applied Digital is seeking a Data Center Controls Engineer – SME to design, implement, and optimize BMS/EPMS and automation within data centers. You will lead troubleshooting, guide cross-functional teams, and drive reliability in power, cooling, and environmental systems.

The role requires deep expertise in data center controls, strong communication, and a proactive approach to maintenance and upgrades to support scalable capacity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; advanced certifications are a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in data center operations, controls engineering, or similar role.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting tools and familiarity with ASHRAE and Uptime Institute standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain control systems for data center facilities (BMS/EPMS, automation).
• Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and control system issues with root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and vendors to optimize automation while ensuring safety and compliance.
• Conduct daily inspections, monitoring, and predictive maintenance of critical infrastructure.
• Provide SME guidance, mentor junior staff, and lead training sessions.
• Manage data center projects from inception to completion, including upgrades and integrations.
