Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Data Center Controls Engineer in Wharton, TX to oversee Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) for AWS data centers. You will lead control deployments, review MEP drawings, manage BOMs, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders while traveling up to 25% of the time.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in industrial controls within critical environments and 4+ years in project/vendor management related to construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years with industrial controls in critical environments (data centers, pharma, manufacturing, oil & gas, etc.).
• 4+ years of general project or vendor management experience related to construction and project execution.
• 10+ years of relevant controls experience in lieu of a degree (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Manage scope of Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) for construction of AWS data centers.
• Ensure data center controls are deployed per scope of work (SOW) and specifications.
• Review and provide feedback on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings.
• Develop controls bill of material (BOM).
• Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables, requirements and navigate difficult situations.
• Work under tight project timelines.
• Financially manage both construction and service contracts.
• Act in a project sponsor/lead capacity.
• Provide vendor management.
• Develop scope of work for site improvement projects.
• Provide technical assistance and support to internal customers during life cycle of the data center.
• Perform controls root cause analysis for service of controls for AWS data centers.
• Schedule and supervise Quarterly maintenance for BMS and EPMS.
• Review controls sequence of operation and provide feedback to design.
• Participate in a global on-call schedule.
• Grow in technical ability by learning a multitude of different automation platforms.
• Develop building automation controls drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Size controls valves and damper actuators and select controls devices.
• Develop and modify control logic programming.
• Develop and modify graphical user interface.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or related field
