Job summary

Suffolk is seeking an Assistant Superintendent, Mission Critical to guide construction programs on data center projects, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence. The role includes coordinating documents, layouts, inspections, and daily field activities on site in Cedar Rapids.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in mission-critical construction, a bachelor’s degree preferred, and strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and distribute construction documents to project team (plans, specs, RFIs, bulletins, field reports)
• Manage layout and verify field dimensions for accuracy
• Verify subcontractor layout against established lines and grades
• Administer Suffolk’s Quality Management Program and document deficiencies to resolution
• Monitor job progress on-site for compliance with contract documents
• Document daily construction activity with reports, photos, and sketches
• Create and distribute daily/weekly work plans and logistics schedules
• Attend meetings with customers and clients to provide status updates and address concerns
• Maintain permits, testing, and inspections for project completion and acceptance
• Assist in administering the Suffolk Safety Program and enforce safety requirements
• Supervise and mentor Field Engineers in daily work
• Communicate safety expectations clearly to project teams
