Job summary

Mortenson in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking an experienced Scheduler I to perform planning and scheduling using basic principles with oversight. You will assist in drafting schedules using CPM programs, monitor and update schedules, and help management mitigate scheduling issues.

The role requires a BS degree in Construction Management or Engineering, prior construction-site experience, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent field.
• Prior experience on construction job sites preferred.
• Basic knowledge of scheduling concepts, principles, practices, and company software.
• Basic knowledge of standard construction practices and project sequencing.
• Ability to exercise creativity and mature judgement in problem solving.
• Basic plan and specification reading, review, and interpretation skills.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional, collaborative, team-based environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with initiative to seek innovative solutions.
• Results-oriented to ensure delivery of appropriate products and services in a timely fashion.
• Active listening and effective communication with diverse input and feedback.
• Excellent organization skills and eagerness to learn.
• Knowledge of Primavera P6 and/or Power Project is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in drafting schedules using CPM scheduling programs with oversight.

• Assist site management to formulate mitigation plans to correct scheduling problems.
