Job summary

SilverBack is seeking experienced Electrical and Mechanical Commissioning Technicians for a high-priority hyperscale data center project in Frederick, MD. The role involves on-site testing, pre-commissioning, and verification across critical mechanical/electrical infrastructure, working with client commissioning leads to drive tests from Level 1 to Level 5.

You will review submittals, produce narratives, and track punch lists using CxAlloy, while collaborating with site supervisors.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Commissioning Technician on large-scale data center or mission-critical projects.
• Hands-on mechanical or electrical background (HVAC, Chillers, Piping or Power, Switchgear, UPS).
• Familiarity with logging field notes and checklists in CxAlloy or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Execute Level 1 through Level 5 commissioning tests (FAT, SAT, FPT, IST) for data center infrastructure.
• Develop and run testing scripts and perform operational checks on Switchgear, UPS, Generators, PDUs, ATS, and EPMS.
• Verify Chillers, CRAHs/AHUs, Pumps, Piping, BAS/BMS controls, and HVAC systems against design specs.
• Review engineering submittals, single-line diagrams, P&IDs, and vendor scripts for installation accuracy.
• Log, track, and resolve field deficiency items and pre-commissioning punch lists using CxAlloy or similar tool.
• Identify blockers in chaotic field environments, adapt workflows, and maintain productivity on night shifts.

Currently, we are looking for experienced Electrical and Mechanical Commissioning Technicians to join a high-priority, fast-paced hyperscale data center project in the Frederick, MD area with immediate start.

Position Overview

The Commissioning Technician is responsible for performing site-level testing, pre-commissioning, and functional verification across all critical mechanical or electrical infrastructure. This role serves as a key field asset working alongside site supervisors and client commissioning leads to drive systems through Level 1 to Level 5 testing phases and ensure flawless equipment turnover.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute hands‑on Level 1 through Level 5 commissioning tests (FAT, SAT, FPT, and IST) for high‑availability data center infrastructure.
• Perform testing, script narratives, and operational checks on Switchgear, UPS systems, Generators, PDUs, ATS, and EPMS.
• Perform testing and verification on Chillers, CRAHs/AHUs, Pumps, Piping, BAS/BMS controls, and HVAC systems.
• Review engineering submittals, single‑line diagrams, P&IDs, and vendor scripts to verify installation accuracy against design specifications.
• Log, track, and resolve field deficiency items and pre‑commissioning punch lists using CxAlloy or similar commissioning software.
• Proactively identify site blockers in chaotic field environments, adapt to workflow changes, and maintain high productivity on night shifts.

Experience & Background:

• Proven experience as a Commissioning Technician, Cx Agent, or Field Specialist on large‑scale data center or mission‑critical projects.
• Hands‑on technical background specializing in either Mechanical (HVAC/Chillers/Piping) or Electrical (Power/Switchgear/UPS) systems.
• Demonstrated familiarity with logging field notes and managing checklists in CxAlloy or similar Cx management tools.

Technical & Soft Skills:

• Ability to read complex mechanical/electrical drawings, submittals, and execution narratives.
• Self‑starter mindset with strong problem‑solving skills; able to work independently with minimal hand‑holding after site orientation.
• Full availability to work day and night shifts, 6 days per week (48 to 60 hours per week) for the project duration.
