Job summary

Insight Global is seeking Level II Cable Technicians to support large-scale data center construction by installing, testing, maintaining, and decommissioning fiber optic, copper, and low-voltage cabling systems. The role requires 3–5 years of structured cabling experience and hands-on installation work in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities include rack/cabinet builds, pathway installations, cabling terminations, interpreting drawings, and mentoring junior technicians.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• 3-5 years of telecom/structured cabling experience.
• Experience with fiber optic and copper cabling installations.
• Ability to install, test, service, and decommission structured cabling systems.
• Experience with low-voltage and communications cabling.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
• Knowledge of structured cabling installation, routing, labeling, and commissioning.
• Experience building/removing racks, cabinets, cable trays, and pathways.
• Proficiency with telecom and construction hand tools.
• Ability to distinguish colors for cable identification.
• Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, raised floors, ladders, and lifts.
• Flexibility to work overtime, nights, and weekends as project demands require.
• Strong communication skills and professional attitude.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, troubleshoot, service, and decommission structured cabling systems.
• Perform fiber optic, copper, communications, and low-voltage cabling work.
• Build and remove racks, cabinets, cable trays, pathways, and related infrastructure.
• Route, terminate, label, and commission cabling according to project standards.
• Read and execute work from drawings, blueprints, specifications, and manufacturer guidelines.
• Ensure all installations meet customer requirements, design intent, and industry standards.
• Follow all company and customer safety policies to maintain an accident-free work environment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
• Perform quality assurance checks on completed work.
• Assist with material planning, tool preparation, and project coordination.
• Support and mentor less experienced technicians.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, teammates, and customer representatives.
• Travel to support projects at additional customer sites when needed.
