Job summary

Newmark is seeking a Data Center Building Engineer/Electrician to provide operational support for a critical data center in New Jersey. You will monitor facility systems, perform maintenance on electrical, mechanical, BAS/BMS, security and fire protection systems, and respond to faults and emergencies to ensure continuous operations.

The role requires reading blueprints, developing SOPs/EOPs, and coordinating with outside contractors, while maintaining compliance with codes and safety

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Current Electricians License preferred.
• 2-4 years previous critical data center operations engineering experience preferred.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, Google G Suite; able to learn proprietary systems and software.
• Proficient with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS).
• Familiarity with CMMS.
• Able to complete required safety classes.
• Read blueprints and schematics for electrical and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the facility operations and respond to faults and emergencies.
• Maintain and repair mechanical, electrical, BAS/BMS, security and fire protection systems.
• Record and track Preventative Maintenance using CMMS and log books.
• Coordinate contractor approvals for outside work and maintain logs.
• Read blueprints and schematics for complex systems.
• Understand sequences of operation of building systems.
• Develop MOPs, SOPs and EOPs for site equipment.
• Adhere to Change Control processes.
• Interact with all parts of the organization to address service requests; ensure safety and continuity.
• Maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local codes.
• May perform other duties (e.g., HVAC, plumbing).
