Job summary

Southern Company Gas is seeking a Data Catalog Engineer for the Data Management team. You will design, implement, and maintain the data catalog, ML repositories, and AI catalog to enable self-service data assets across the organization.

Collaborating with stakeholders in Gas Technology Solutions and the EDGE data governance organization, you will drive data quality, metadata management, and governance policies to ensure trusted, compliant data products.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data management and governance.
• Experience with enterprise data catalog platforms (Erwin/Alation/Collibra).
• Experience developing data dictionaries and metadata repositories.
• Experience implementing data governance policies and procedures.
• Experience with data quality audits and regulatory compliance.
• Administer and optimize data catalog platforms for security and reliability.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and ETL/ELT tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain the data catalog, ML repositories, and AI catalog.
• Perform end-to-end data lineage and impact analysis across systems.
• Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, architecture, security, and business stakeholders to enable trusted data products.
• Develop and maintain automated metadata harvesting, classification, and governance workflows.
