Job summary

IEEE seeks a Governance Data Analyst to advance enterprise data governance by partnering with business stakeholders, technology teams, and the data governance organization. The role emphasizes strong communication and stakeholder management to translate complex data concepts into actionable guidance.

The analyst will own end-to-end governance capabilities, guiding development across the data catalog, metadata, and other data quality platforms, and champion governance across diverse teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, IT, Business Management, or related field. Advanced degrees a plus.
• 4-7 years proven communicator coordinating data governance with stakeholders.
• 4-7 years hands-on experience using SQL, Python for data analysis.
• 4-7 years experience leading requirements-driven sessions and translating needs into specs.
• 2-4 years understanding data privacy/regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, validate, and document data requirements and specifications.
• Contribute to governance planning by aligning catalog structure, metadata standards, glossaries, and quality rule frameworks.
• Maintain and govern metadata assets, business glossary content, and quality rules for accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor data integrity across the data catalog and quality rule configurations.
• Implement data quality rules in Atlan and use Soda for continuous monitoring.
• Support metadata integration and delivery with engineering, architecture, and data product teams.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration to promote governance alignment.
• Advocate governance best practices and catalog adoption across business units.
