Independence Pet Group is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to lead enterprise governance initiatives. You will manage the data catalog, metadata, and data lineage while coordinating with Data Governance, Security, Engineering and Legal teams.

The role emphasizes stakeholder collaboration and building a robust data stewardship program. Ideal candidates have 8+ years in data governance, hands-on cataloging experience, and familiarity with Databricks Unity Catalog and Osano privacy tools.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Data Governance or related field.
• Hands-on data catalog deployment with metadata management.
• Experience building a Data Stewardship Program.
• Knowledge of data governance principles, metadata management, data cataloging, data lineage, and stewardship best practices.
• Experience with Databricks Unity Catalog or similar governance platforms.
• Familiarity with Osano privacy/compliance tools.
• Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to collaborate across Data Governance, Security, Engineering, Product, and business teams.
• Familiarity with governance frameworks and operating models.
• Experience measuring governance adoption and data quality metrics.

Responsibilities

• Administer the enterprise Data Catalog in partnership with the Data Governance team.
• Lead the data catalog roadmap, including metadata collection, asset onboarding, data classification, business glossary development, and data lineage documentation.
• Support and administer Databricks Unity Catalog, including data asset registration, metadata management, access governance coordination, and catalog organization across data domains.
• Partner with data owners, stewards, and engineering teams to improve data discoverability, governance adoption, and data management practices.
• Design, implement, and lead the Data Stewardship Program in alignment with data catalog deployment and governance objectives.
• Serve as the primary administrator and business liaison for Osano, managing platform enhancements, issue resolution, compliance requests, and vendor coordination.
• Support Master Data Management (MDM) platforms and governance processes, including stewardship workflows, data quality initiatives, and master data controls.
• Monitor platform adoption, governance metrics, and usage trends, providing recommendations for process optimization and technology improvements.
• Support data governance projects and strategic initiatives as needed.
• Develop governance documentation, standards, and operational procedures that support scalable data management practices.
