Job summary

Synergis seeks a Data and Wireless Network Engineer to support and engineer the data and wireless network infrastructure in hybrid environments. You will manage lifecycle, documentation, and day-to-day operations for Cisco-based wired and wireless networks.

The role requires 3–5 years in enterprise data and wireless networking, CCNP level knowledge, and strong TCP/IP routing expertise, with on-site collaboration and after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of Enterprise Data Networking experience.
  • 3–5 years of Enterprise Wireless Networking experience.
  • CCNP level knowledge expected; certification is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco wired and wireless LAN technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage equipment lifecycle, documentation, and support for wired and wireless data network infrastructure.
  • Support data network including firewalls, routing/switching, wireless, and network security services.
  • Engineer project implementations and day-to-day operations for network infrastructure (Cisco routers/switches, WLAN).
  • Apply data communications principles (TCP/IP, routing, WAN, Ethernet) for efficient configurations.
  • Collaborate with TO Security and Field Operations Technicians on new technologies.
  • Develop and ensure engineering standards and documentation.

Job description

TITLE: Data and Wireless Network Engineer
LOCATION: Atlanta, GA or Birmingham, AL - hybrid 2-3 days onsite
ANTICIPATED DURATION: From 09/28/2026 to 09/17/2029
Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for equipment lifecycle management, documentation and technical support for wired data and wireless network infrastructure.
  • Supports data network including firewalls, routing/switching, wireless, and network security services.
  • Responsible for engineering project implementation and day-to-day operations for the network infrastructure including Cisco data communications equipment such as routers, switches, and wireless LAN.
  • Applies strong knowledge of data communications principles, architectures, and protocols including TCP/IP, routing, switching, WAN, and Ethernet technologies to implement efficient network configurations.
  • Works closely with TO Security and Field Operations Technicians to ensure proper implementation and configuration of new technologies.
  • Develops and ensures compliance with engineering standards including documentation, product lifecycle plans, and implementation.
  • Provides support to the local Operating Companies on issues related to network planning, engineering design, and consulting.
  • Performs end-to-end troubleshooting for data and wireless LAN networks.
  • Coordinates with field technicians to install network projects and troubleshoot issues.
  • Participates in rotating after-hours on-call rotation and provides off-hours operational support when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of both Cisco wired and wireless LAN network infrastructure technologies.
  • Configuration, troubleshooting and administration of Cisco Catalyst switches 9K (chassis and fixed port).
  • Configuration, troubleshooting and administration of Cisco routers (ISR 4K, Catalyst 8K).
  • Configuration and deployment of Cisco wireless controllers, access points and integration with AAA systems.
  • Strong knowledge of network and dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, QoS, Multicast, CAPWAP, etc.).
  • Ability to analyze network, server, storage, and application problems quickly, develop solutions, and choose the best course of action.
  • Experience working with field technicians to install network projects and troubleshoot issues.
  • Ability to participate in rotating after-hours on-call support.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Enterprise Data (wired) Networking.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Enterprise Wireless Networking.
  • CCNP level knowledge expected in networking theory; certification is a plus.
  • Demonstrated personal computer skills (Visio, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).

The hourly pay rate range for this position is $40.00 to $45.00 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
