Job summary

Hippo Insurance seeks a data analyst to own analytics for critical operational areas, partnering with the Analytics Lead to design dashboards, uncover insights, and drive decisions.

You will define what we measure, build dashboards from scratch, and translate data into actionable business insights, presenting findings to stakeholders and leaders. This role reports to the Sr Manager, Data & Analytics and offers autonomy to shape shared services usage of data.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of data analytics experience
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM
• SQL proficiency to write efficient queries against databases/data warehouses
• Tableau (or similar BI tool) to build dashboards from scratch
• Self-starter mindset – takes initiative to identify opportunities, gathers requirements without being asked
• Storyteller – presents data insights clearly to non-technical audiences and connects findings to business recommendations
• Analytical problem-solving – comfortable scoping ambiguous problems and recommending approaches
• Attention to detail – data quality and accuracy matter; you catch inconsistencies

Responsibilities

• Own your analytics verticals from requirements to delivery.
• Define KPIs and metrics with stakeholders; design dashboards from requirements through delivery.
• Build Tableau dashboards and SQL queries that answer specific business questions.
• Present findings to stakeholders and operational teams; translate data into recommendations.
• Identify and pursue analytics opportunities proactively.
• Maintain dashboards, validate data quality, and support stakeholder adoption.
• Conduct stakeholder interviews to understand business needs.
• Define scope and approach for new analytics initiatives.
• Communicate back to stakeholders in clear, business-friendly language.
• Contribute to team standards and best practices.
• Share learnings and insights across the analytics function.
