Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Data Analyst Intern for its Energy Supply (Generation) Compliance Programs in Minneapolis, MN. The role focuses on data-driven decision making, process optimization, and dashboard development using PowerBI and related tools.

As an intern, you will map data, build queries, automate reporting, and translate work into training and process documents. The position starts May 24, 2027 and may extend based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics or related technical degree.
• Available to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours/week) or part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours/week).
• Able to commute to the Marshall Operations Center in Minneapolis, MN three+ days per week (T, W, TH core days).

Responsibilities

• Support analytical and continuous improvement initiatives under guidance of Reporting & Compliance Analysts or Planning and Process Consultants.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, IT support, and vendors for data mapping, report development, automation, and training documents.
• Collect, validate, analyze operational data used for reporting and trend analysis to support root cause analysis and improvements.
• Enhance dashboards or develop new dashboards tracking key operational metrics; ensure accuracy and relevance.
