Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Data Analyst Intern to support the Electric Distribution System Performance (EDSP) team in Colorado. This paid internship applies data analytics to distribution system performance, outage data, reliability metrics, and reporting, working with engineers and analysts to transform large datasets into actionable insights.

Qualifications

• Current student, Sophomore or higher (as of Fall 2026)
• Enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related field
• Able to work full-time during summer (up to 40 hours) or part-time during school year (up to 20 hours) and commute in-person per hybrid policy
• Able to commute to Lipan Distribution Center (LDC) in Denver

Responsibilities

• Analyze distribution system performance data (outages, reliability metrics, asset performance) to identify trends and insights
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Excel, Power BI and Databricks
• Support data validation, cleansing, and preparation across multiple data sources
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support data-driven decision-making
• Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting to support EDSP initiatives
• Document analytical methods and present findings to team members
